Yesterday my class and another class went to go and watch a play at The Pasadena Playhouse. It was called Maritius it was about two half sisters whose life was really bad.The younger sister (jacky) was abused by her father and mother and so was her sister (mary). The thing is that Mary was able to get away when she was sixtenn but jacky stayed. When their mother dies Mary comes back and they fight about a stamp book. The stamp book used to belong to mary's grandfather and she says that it's her but jacky says that when her mother was dying that she gave it to her.I say that mary is right the book doesnt belong to her and her mother should'nt have given it to her because it was'nt hers. The stamp book belongs to mary because it was her grandfathers and she worked on it with him. Jacky does a bad thing, she tries to sell it but i think that mary is the bad when she never should have lied about the stamps saying they were'nt real just so that jacky can't sell them. But in the end it kinda all works out. I think that it was a really good play and the actors were awesome im glad that i got to go see it.
Thank you Ms.Crabtree for taking us! : )

MY REFLECTIONS ON THE PRESENTATIONS
i thought that the presentations were very intereseting. i found that there was a lot of other things about the book that i never thought about.what some people said on the presentations were very insightfull they dug deeper into the meaning then i would have done cause i didnt think that there was something else that it could mean.like on question four from the alchemist that my group and i did the presentation on there was this question. when was santiago tempted to let his life be controlled by fate? miguel just said what he thought he said that santiago was tempted to let his life be controlled by fate when he was working for the crystal merchant.i hadnt even thought of that and its meaning that he was about to just go back to what he does best and what he knows to do. but instead he doesnt let fate decide for him he decides that he should pursue his personal legend and not be stuck like the crystal merchant who istead of going to mecca just stayed at his crystal shop.

a. What connections are there between the book and your life? Explain by providing details about the book (and your personal experiences).
The book that i am reading rght now which is "Baby Help by Marilyn Reynolds" relates to my life very little. Mostly because in this book Melissa which is a girl who has a baby with this guy and the guy gets drunk and hits her but when he jostles their baby she thinks she has had enough and tries to leave. In this part of the book it has nothing to do with me because i havent had a baby but my dad used to hit me though only when i wouldnt listen so i think it relates right there because melissa didnt listen to her boyfriend and thats why he hit her. So when melissa leaves she doesnt really want to leave because of her school she was about to graduate. Melissa goes to the baby center and she continues her school work she even finds a job but the part that relates to my life is the fact that she wants to do good in school in order to graduate and be able to go to college. I want to be able to go to college and i try to do my work hopefully i can pass ninth grade and not get stuck in high school for another year.
b. What is the most important word in your book? The most important passage? The most important event? Explain.
The most important word in my book is baby help. Baby help is the word melissa's little girl cheyenne uses everytime she wants to do something on her own. The time melissa's boyfriend jostles cheyenne it really affects her because for the next few days everytime she had to be put in her baby chair or picked up she would say no baby help as in she wanted melissa to gelp her. Cheyenne ended up saying baby help again so that she could do stuff on her own again after the impact of hearing her dad tell her "stop it with that damned baby help thing".
c. Who else should read this book (try to be specific...you don't have to give names, but describe the type of person who could benefit from this book)? Explain.
The type of people that would benefit from this book would be the women that get mistreated by their husbands. The ones that think that their husbands or boyfriends will change because we all know that they wont. Those kind of men who drink and hit women would also benefit from this book to teach them a lesson so they will know that they will be soon losing their wifes or girlfriends. The women who stay with their husands even though they say they are sorry they really dont mean it because the second you forgive them there they are again hitting them.
d. In what ways are you like any of the characters? Explain.
I dont think i am like any of the characters because mellissa stayed with him i know why because she loved him but even if i loved the guy after the first hit is thrown i would have been out of their lives and i would have sent the freaking police after him. The guy melissa's boyfriend is a coward i dont hink im a coward but still i sure as hell dont relate to him.

TO MARILYN REYNOLDS
DEAR MARILYN REYNOLDS,
I first heard about you from my sister who had asked me to look for one of your books in the library at my school. Since then I started looking for any of the books that you wrote so that I could read them. The first book I read from you was “No More Sad Goodbyes” and I totally loved it by the way. Before I started reading your books I was still looking for books to read that would interest me. So far I have read “Too Soon for Jeff”, “No More Sad Goodbyes”, “Telling”, and “If You Loved Me”. Right now I am reading "baby help" and I can say that if i were being treated the melissa was being treated by her boyfriend i dont think i would have taken it. I think that she did the right thing when she went to the shelter. But i really think she shoud have stayed there and never gone back. Even if i dont aprove of her going back i do approve of how this story ended. She made her baby safe and i think that is all that matters. I am going to keep reading your books because they really interest me if i ever want to write a book i will try my best for them to come out as good as yours. Thank you for writting them.
Sincerely,
cookie monster!
